ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (MAY 9, 2013) – On June 15, hit musicians Andy Grammer, Mac McAnally and Wilson Phillips will take their acts to the Atlantic City beach for a day of free concerts hosted by Resorts Casino Hotel. Staged on The LandShark Beach at Resorts from 1 p.m. into the evening (the last concert starts at 7 p.m.), this major event will “seat” music lovers, beachgoers and gamers on the sand for a series of 90-minute sets interspersed with DJ entertainment, prize giveaways, and more.

Kicking off a summer series of great entertainment at Resorts, the June 15 concerts will celebrate Resorts’ enhanced beach vibe and the launch of its $35-million Margaritaville casino and entertainment complex. Inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett, Margaritaville is slated to open Memorial Day Weekend. Among the attractions it will introduce to the Boardwalk is the only year-round bar directly on the Atlantic City beach – LandShark Bar & Grill – just steps across the sand from the concert site.

The Performers

Andy Grammer launched onto the national music scene in 2012 as the first male pop star since John Mayer to reach the adult pop radio Top 10 on his first two singles. His “Keep Your Head Up” is certified Gold and fast approaching Platinum, and a recent national tour with Train set the stage for the former Santa Monica street performer’s own 2013 headline tour in 2013.

Mac McAnally, the Country Music Association’s Musician of the Year for five years running, is celebrating the release of his 11th album, Live in Muscle Shoals. His longtime association with Jimmy Buffett – as songwriter, producer of several Buffett albums, and member of his touring Coral Reefer Band – makes him a natural for the June 15 concert. McAnally cemented his status as a hit maker in 1981 when Alabama took his “Old Flame” to No. 1.

Wilson Phillips comes to the Atlantic City beach fresh off the April release by Sony Masterworks of Dedicated, the famed female trio’s long-awaited album covering hits by The Beach Boys and the Mamas and the Papas. Sisters Carnie and Wendy Wilson, daughters of The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, and Chynna Phillips, daughter of The Mamas & The Papas’ John and Michelle Phillips, first merged their talents in 1990 with the eponymous, chart-topping Wilson Phillips. The lifelong friends also star this spring in Wilson Phillips: Still Holding On, a TV Guide Network reality show.

The Venue

The Beach at Resorts is located at the northern end of the Boardwalk, at North Carolina Avenue. Concert-goers will find multiple, secured points of entry and are invited to bring their beach towels, blankets or chairs, as well as food. Alcoholic beverages will not be permitted.

About Resorts Casino Hotel

The resort that brought gaming to Atlantic City in 1978, Resorts Casino Hotel is at the top of its game today, offering world-class casino action in a relaxed environment that keeps the focus on fun. Resorts Casino Hotel made history as the first American casino outside of Nevada and will celebrate its 35th anniversary in May 2013 with a new milestone: the opening of a $35-million Margaritaville casino and entertainment complex that will include, among other attractions, the only beach bar on the Atlantic City sand. For the latest updates and photos on the project, and celebratory giveaways and perks, keep in touch with us online at facebook.com/resortscasino, twitter.com/resortscasino instagram.com/resortscasino and youtube.com/resortscasino.

Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority assumed management of Resorts Casino Hotel in Fall 2012 – a move that has set the stage for its return as the most exciting gaming destination in Atlantic City. Boasting a prime location spanning 11 acres at the northern end of the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk, the resort features 942 guest rooms and suites in two hotel towers, a 99,951-square-foot casino, two theaters, six restaurants, two VIP slot and table player lounges, a casino bar, indoor-outdoor swimming pool, health club and spa, salon, and retail shops. Its 39,000 square feet of sophisticated meeting space includes seven meeting rooms and a 13,000-square-foot ballroom. For more information, visit http://www.resortsac.com

FORT LEE, NJ – May 8, 2013 – As Fort Lee resident Maxim Almenas finalizes training for his participation in the Gran Fondo New York bike race, he is stepping up efforts to raise $15,000 through Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Johnny Damato. The race, a 110-mile pro-am challenge, will be held on May 19, 2013. Drawing 7,000 participants from 70 countries, the competition calls for participants to earmark a need within their community. For Almenas, that cause is Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of 16-year-old Johnny Damato of Fort Lee to assist with transplant-related expenses.

“Although Johnny is emblematic of what transplant families around the world go through – ongoing and unanticipated medical expenses – what has further inspired my support is Johnny’s personal commitment to raise awareness of the need for organ and bone marrow registration and blood donations,” said Almenas. “While many 16-year-olds spend their time planning or attending Sweet 16 celebrations during this milestone year, Johnny recently organized the First Annual Johnny Damato Donor Awareness Drive which drew more than 200 people to Fort Lee to donate blood or register to be organ or bone marrow donors – pretty amazing.”

Almenas’ goal is to raise $15,000 between now and the May 19 race day. All of the proceeds raised from fundraising will go to COTA which assists families like Johnny’s with transplant-related expenses. Several area businesses have already stepped up with a commitment (see below). All interested parties can log onto www.COTAforJohnnyD.com to make a tax-deductible donation in honor of Johnny Damato. The cyclist is also blogging in advance of the race at thehumantriumph.com where he is sharing inspiring stories of people who have overcome a range of challenges in their lives.

Almenas’ road to Gran Fondo began in 2012. He trained during the winter months with cancer survivor and multi-Ironman World Championship participant and triathlon coach Rich Albom. Almenas later trained and raised funds for the Athletes to End Alzheimer’s triathlon team. Through the team’s triathlon coach, Josh Gold, who has competed in several Ironman competitions in Florida, Brazil, Lake Placid, France, Cozumel, and the world championship in Hawaii, Almenas was able to overcome barriers in long distance swimming, cycling and running. Almenas completed the arduous Ironman U.S. Championship (IMNY) triathlon which started in Fort Lee and ended in New York City on August 11th.

With only six months to prepare, the newbie triathlete crossed the finish line after 16 hours and 28 minutes. The motivation behind raising money for Alzheimer’s stemmed from the loss of his grandmother, Emma Almenas, who succumbed in 2006 to the memory-robbing disease.

A member of the Fort Lee Regional Chamber of Commerce, the official chamber of the IMNY, Almenas became an advocate in an effort to promote the world-class event to potential sponsors and local spectators. This effort led to the chamber selecting Almenas to represent the Borough of Fort Lee in the 2013 Gran Fondo NY.

ABOUT CHILDREN’S ORGAN TRANSPLANT ASSOCIATION

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity that provides fundraising assistance to transplant families. Since 1986, COTA’s priority is to assure that no child or young adult is denied a transplant or excluded from a transplant waiting list due to lack of funds. 100% of all funds raised in honor of transplant patients are used for transplant-related expenses. As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, COTA receives donations to help offset transplant-related expenses. COTA then disperses funds to families to offset those expenses.

Set on a private beach in Cape Cod’s legendary North Falmouth, and surrounded by the shingle-styled architecture of traditional New England cottages along Buzzards Bay, Sea Crest Beach Hotel has emerged from a multimillion-dollar renovation as the quintessential beach hotel for a new generation of travelers. With 263 guest rooms and suites, some with fireplaces and many with water view private balconies, the hotel is equally ideal for families who seek a beachfront setting in which to create timeless memories, couples drawn by the romance of the Cape, and meeting or wedding planners seeking expansive function space combined with superb dining and warm, personalized service. Red’s, named after Red Auerbach, legendary Boston Celtics coach and president, serves a delightful gastro-pub menu in a setting replete with memorabilia curated with the assistance of the family of the restaurant’s beloved namesake.

Sea Crest Beach Hotel is within an easy drive of the region’s largest cities: New York, Boston, and Providence. Boston’s Logan International Airport and Providence’s T.F. Green International Airport are both just over an hour’s drive away.
